Summer Money-saving Tips | First Volunteer Bank

You want to have fun in the sun this summer, and our team at First Volunteer Bank has some tips to help you save for the summer of your dreams!

Easy Ways to Save for Summer

Now that we’re starting to see warmer days mixed in with cold ones, you’ve probably been back and forth raising and lowering the thermostat in your house. Stop. This is only costing you more money. Start opening windows when possible and turning the thermostat off. Not only can this help you start saving now, but it will also be a tip you will take with you into the warmer months. Plus, the money you save on your utility bill can be used toward your summer savings account.

Also, do you have the ability to carpool—either to work or to take the kids to school? Doing so will help you save money on gas, which can also be additional money toward your summer of fun account.

It’s a little late to get this started for this year, but here’s a fun way to save in the future: Starting the first week of a new year, put the number of dollars that matches the week of the year in your savings account. So, put $1 in the first week, $2 the second week…all the way up to $52 the last week of the year. When you finish, you’ll have saved more than $1,000—and in a pain-free way!

First Volunteer Bank wants to help you put back money for a rainy day (or a summer day) with one of our savings accounts!
