Preparing Thanksgiving Dinner on a Budget
By now, you’ve probably invited all your Thanksgiving guests. Friends and family are about to join you on a special day to give thanks for all they’ve received this year. As you begin writing your list of all you need for Thanksgiving dinner, you may be in shock at how quickly things add up. Fortunately, you don’t have to break your budget in order to provide a Thanksgiving meal, especially with these tips!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Who doesn’t want to have a meal with the people they are most grateful for in life? And you should be able to do so without spending all the money in your savings account. However, with the costs the way they are these days, it’s easy to overspend when trying to create the perfect Thanksgiving.
Here are some tips to help you share in the memories while not burning a hole in your pocket on Nov. 24.
First, ask your guests to bring their favorite side dish or dessert. Who says you have to be the one supplying all the food? Plus, many of your guests will want to help out with the meal planning—so allow them to help by bringing over a side dish or two in order to help you only focus on the main entree. In addition, this will allow you to spend more time with your favorite people and not the entire day stuck in the kitchen cooking.
Who says that Thanksgiving has to mean turkey for dinner? Why not try something new—like an Italian spaghetti night or a taco fiesta? Not only is it different, but these ingredients usually don’t cost as much and make more servings per dollar than the traditional Thanksgiving feast.
Finally, when decorating your table, keep it simple. Instead of going out and purchasing all new decorations, just use what you have. Also, look outside your home for ideas, such as pine cones, leaves and acorn squash!
